HISTORY OF THIS CAR
I purchased this car for my wife in December of 1998, with 56,709 miles on it. I also purchased a 4 year, 48,000 mile warranty at that time, for a total cost of $23,854. I am a perfectionist architect whose last car was a MB 450SEL 6.9 which I drove daily for over 20 years. I take very good care of my cars.
Last year we decided to keep this car for another 100k miles so in August, 2005 I spent thousands of dollars re-doing most wear parts as described below. My wife then replaced the car with another BMW wagon - a 2003 BMW 540iT with navigation (for road trips).
I have a ticket for every part and service done to this car from January 1999 to the present and I also have the BMW workshop manual for this car, all of which goes with the car.
Automatic transmission, cruise control, traction control, ABS brakes, 6-disc CD changer located in the cargo area, cassette player, AM/FM radio, dual sunroofs (one for the front of the car and one for the passenger area), keyless entry, and power seats.
The paint color is White and the interior is Tan. It looks very good and there are no door dings in the rest of the car's paint. There is one series of scratches on the right rear bumper, noted in the photos.
The windshield is in excellent shape and it was replaced in March of 2004.
All wheels are the standard 16-inch basketweave BMW wheels with Michelin tires. The wheels are in very good condition and the tires have about 70% of tread-depth remaining on the tires. Chrome, rubber bumpers, etc. are all in excellent condition. The windows are not tinted.
Taupe leather (light brown) and have been cleaned and treated with Leatherique. They are in very good condition with no scratches, tears, or stains. The driver's seat leather shows slightly more wear than the other seats. All seat controls work perfectly, with power adjustments.
All work with no missing pixels. The onboard computer was very recently replaced (in June 2006).
I have two keys to the car, and one keyless entry fob (I may have an extra fob, but I don't want to promise that). The keyless entry works just as it should.
Works perfectly. The car is equipped with a factory 6-disc CD changer installed and mounted in the trunk and controlled by the radio head unit. The radio works fine except for the left front speaker which does not want to come on at lower volumes (you must turn the radio up to get it working, but then it will work at any volume). The car comes with a custom-made cupholder.
CARPET AND MATS:
The carpet is in good condition with one slight stain in the cargo area, but other than that it looks great. The car comes with original BMW floor mats in good condition, as well as a matching custom-made cargo mat.
The wood is in good condition with no cracks, scratches or fading.
ENGINE AND MECHANICAL CONDITION
New oxygen sensor in May of 2005.
All of these were replaced in August 2005: Timing chain and tensioners, camshaft positioning sensor, all new belts, belt idler pulleys and tensioner. All heater hoses, all power steering hoses, air mass meter boot, valve cover gasket and seals, spark plugs, both hood shocks.
A new radiator and cap as well as a new fan shroud were installed in February of 2006.
New rear shocks in March of 2006.
New rear trailing arm connectors and differential oil changed in August 2005.
August 2005 - New front and rear transmission mounts, new transmission filter and the fluid changed. The transmission shifts smoothly and functions just as it should.
Good shape, rear pads replaced in January of 2005, front pads replaced in November 2004 and the braking system was flushed in August 2005 and new fluid was put in at that time.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
The HVAC system functions perfectly, with the heater blowing hot air as it should and the air conditioner blowing very cold air, cold enough to combat our Texas heat. The car features dual automatic climate control using dials to adjust temperature settings.
