1997 Mercedes Benz SL500

Up for sale is my 1997 MB SL500 with 39,500 miles.

The 1997 model featured the newer, much improved electronic 5-speed transmission, rain-sensing windshield wipers,

Homelink transmitters, and Side Airbags. This car also has factory XENON headlights.

The car has a black exterior/black factory Panorama hardtop with tan leather interior. The soft top is black in color and the fabric and window are both in excellent condition.

The engine, transmission, brakes, cruise control, radio/cassette with CD changer, and convertible top all function just as they should.

RECENT MAINTENANCE WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS:

Oil and oil filter changed.

Transmission flushed and a new transmission filter fitted.

Air filters replaced (both engine filters).

Coolant flushed.

Fuel filter replaced.

All work above was performed by a Mercedes master technician.

Replaced three hydraulic actuators for the convertible top mechanism, and the convertible top should be trouble-free for many years to come.

Just replaced the convertible-top control module (the main computer for the top) with one that has a lifetime warranty.

The soft top is in excellent condition. The soft top plastic windows are clear. The car also comes with the factory Panorama hardtop

which is also in excellent condition and all original books, manuals, and radio codes.

The leather seats are in superb shape for their age.

The factory radio works perfectly and controls the factory CD changer located in the trunk. The antenna mast does not retract, but the motor is fine.

It just needs a new mast (inexpensive and easy to replace).

There is some paintwork to the front of the vehicle that was done prior to my ownership, however the vehicle shows extremely well.

The car is in excellent condition. The car has a clean CarFax report, but the VIN is listed below so that you may run your own reports if you would like.

Flaws with the car:

The antenna does not retract as it should every time.
There is some slight peeling of the cloth/leather at the edges of 2 panels.
The two little plastic pieces (one on each side) at the base of the sun visors are broken.
The driver's side rearview mirror glass has discolored.
There is some rubbing of the colored plastic at the base of the inside door pulls.
There is some paintwork to the front of the vehicle that was done prior to my ownership, however the vehicle shows extremely well.
